PREACH THE TEXT

CORE CLASSES

CT120 Introduction to Hermeneutics: Basic Biblical Interpretation

This course is designed to teach the student the proper skills of interpretation and introduce exegetical concepts and experience, producing a closer understanding to the original meaning of any text.

PS101 Introduction to Homiletics

Introduction to the theory and practice of the preparation and delivery of sermons with emphasis on how to study, write the sermon, look for specific messages in the text, and title the sermon.

TH101 Introduction to Systematic Theology

The study of Christian doctrines the study of God, Christ, Church, Angels, Holy Spirit, Salvation and Scripture.  BASIC for any minister of the Gospel. Pastor Harold Cadwell

PS201 Expository Preaching I

The art of sermon preparation using text to text application applying the tools of hermeneutics and expository study methods that focuses on the text rather than the story of the text. Expository preaching is a form of preaching that details the meaning of a particular text or passage of Scripture, what the Bible means by what it says. Dr. Corletta J. Vaughn

PS 202 Narrative Preaching I

The art and preparation for narrative preaching can also mean that the sermon is not so predictable. The hearer is not given the thesis up front followed by its defense. Rather the listener is taken on a journey through the story of the text through conflict, tension, and eventual resolution. This is often more gripping and memorable.

PS203 Prophetic Preaching I

Prophetic preaching is inspired by the Holy Spirit through the means of prophetic revelation.  The word ‘revelation’ in the New Testament Greek, apokalupsis, means ‘an uncovering,’ or ‘disclosure.’ The prophetic gift is employed to make known the thoughts, purpose and intent of God. Dr. Corletta J. Vaughn
